YVONNE SINCLAIR

Everyone is born with a talent but some of us don’t acknowledge or even recognise it. Fortunately, for us, Yvonne Sinclair realised early on she was born with a talent for cooking. She has a natural flair & has pursued it in a singular fashion.
Anyone can train to be a chef but talented chefs, like Yvonne, are few & far between. This flair has taken her around the world cooking for owners of luxury yachts & back to her Kinsale roots where she now runs Cucina Bistro with her partner, Nick O’Riordan.
She has a wealth of culinary experience behind her, beginning with a five- year stint at the Jimmy Edwards. While working there, she completed a Culinary Arts Degree at CIT in Cork City. On leaving, she took off for Majorca & landed her first of many opportunites to use her talents cooking on boats. Apart from catering for the variety of nationalities that made up the different crews she worked with, Yvonne has also provided wonderful cuisine for celebrities, sheiks, businessmen, US senators, Lebanese who stayed on these luxury yachts.
She combined her flair with the ethnic cuisine in the different ports that were visited by buying fresh produce from local markets & then asking the sellers how they would cook it. Along the way, she gathered a vast culinary experience which she now brings to her menu in Cucina.
But that wasn’t enough & in March 2008, she was accepted by the Cordon Bleu School of Cuisine in London for their intensive 6 month course. This course is not for the faint-hearted & only the really committed come through.  She graduated top of a class of 30, which success has resulted in a sublime combination of natural culinary ability with Cordon Bleu’s technical discipline.
Following another stint on a yacht, she returned in 2009 to Cork to work at the busy & demanding restaurant, Nash 19, until her return to Kinsale to work in the evenings at Cucina until she & Nick started running the restaurant themselves.
When you eat out in Cucina you will experience the variety of tastes & eating cultures that Yvonne learnt on her travels. But you will also find a friendly, laid-back atmosphere that will bring you back again & again.
